Alientech KESS3 Upgrade 3.51 — New BENCH Protocols for Bosch MDG1 “Locked” ECUs
Alientech has released KESS3 Upgrade 3.51, bringing a major workflow improvement for Bosch MDG1 “Locked” ECUs.
The new update adds BENCH protocols for MDG1 ECUs that were previously unlocked using the KESS3 Unlock Module. After the initial BOOT unlock procedure, you can work directly through the ECU connector in BENCH mode — without opening the ECU again.

Supported Bosch ECU Families
Upgrade 3.51 adds BENCH support for the same MDG1 families covered by the previous BOOT Unlock update:
• Bosch MD1CS003
• Bosch MD1CS069
• Bosch MD1CP007
• Bosch MD1CS012
• Bosch MG1CS042
• Bosch MD1CS004 HW80
• Bosch MG1CS031
• Bosch MD1CP006
• Bosch MD1CS005
• Bosch MG1CS002
The protocols cover petrol and diesel applications from 2021 onwards.
How the New Workflow Works
Step 1 — Unlock
Use the KESS3 Unlock Module to access the protected ECU and perform the required BOOT Unlock procedure.
Step 2 — BENCH
Once the ECU has been successfully unlocked, connect directly to the ECU connector and switch to BENCH mode.
Step 3 — Read & Write
The ECU can then be accessed through BENCH for supported operations, including reading, writing and complete backup of the ECU contents.
New BENCH Coverage
The update covers applications from:
Audi, Bentley, Citroën, Cupra, DS, Fiat, Ford, Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, Land Rover, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Seat, Secma, Skoda, Toyota, Vauxhall and Volkswagen.
Supported models include:

🔹 Kia: New Bongo, Sorento, Stinger, Tasman
🔹 Land Rover: Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar
🔹 Porsche: Cayenne, Cayenne E-Hybrid, Macan, Panamera and other supported variants
🔹 Volkswagen: Arteon, Caddy, Golf, Passat, Polo, Talagon, Tiguan, Touareg and T-Roc
Plus supported applications from Bentley, Citroën, Cupra, DS, Fiat, Genesis, Opel, Peugeot, Seat, Skoda, Toyota and Vauxhall.
Why Upgrade 3.51 Matters
Unlock protected MDG1 ECUs in the workshop
New BENCH protocols after unlocking
No need to reopen the ECU for subsequent BENCH operations
Direct connection through the ECU connector
Complete ECU backup capability
Expanded coverage for latest-generation cars, LCVs, heavy-duty vehicles and tractors
Important: The new protocols require KESS3 CAR BENCH/BOOT activation and an active subscription. The KESS3 Unlock Module is required for the initial BOOT Unlock procedure.
Upgrade 3.51 makes the MDG1 workflow faster and more practical: Unlock once in BOOT, then work directly in BENCH.
